This project started to save local wool from the landfill. Most of the yarns contain Clun Forest wool. Clun Forest sheep is a common breed to the UK but unusual in the United States. It is a medium grade wool with more fulling than felting characteristics and with a lot of resilience (spring and memory). Most of the wool and all of the mohair for Isis Yarns is sourced from the Pacific Northwest. The yarn and roving are all processed at small mills in the USA.
